Future Litters
Sadly, we lost VIDA in December 2010, less than a year after whelping her first litter. Our hopes for the future now rest with puppies from that litter, and we intend to breed BLUE in coming years. Please contact us if you may be interested in a future StumpTown puppy.
Puppies from the 2010 Breeders Award litter are through their first hunting season and have demonstrated high levels of cooperation, calm house manners, good conformation and health. In the field they are natural retrievers and take to the water, have high prey drive, pleasing style, and are fun and biddable pups. Details and photographs of the 2010 litter are provided here. Our own puppy from the 2010 litter is named BLUE.
StumpTown puppies will be bred only from finished field-proven dogs, and we are not a high-volume kennel. Our goal is to produce a limited number of top-quality GSP puppies suitable for hunting and other field endeavors, and which will also possess the correct, balanced temperament to allow them to serve as exceptional companions in active homes.
All puppies are raised and extensively socialized in our home, including daily contact with our two grade-school aged children. As the puppies mature, we begin providing all kinds of sensory and social exposures - sounds, textures, toys, physical obstacles and puzzles, and new people. One or more crates are always present in their pen for exploration and comfort. Weather depending, they'll get outside as soon as their eyes open (2-3 weeks of age), and we begin transporting them in a crate into the field where they'll encounter different types of grass and cover, pigeons, and water starting at about 5 weeks old.
Puppies will have regular veterinary care and vaccinations, and will be available to go to their new homes beginning at age 7 weeks (8 weeks for pups being shipped). Basic information is provided here and summarized below.
